INDUSTRY NEWS
WHAT'S GOING ON AT ROOMSAVER.COM RoomSaver.com?s production team has been hard at work on improving the look of our site. Our search result pages have been upgraded to not only be more visually appealing, but to also allow visitors easier access to listings. Featured properties will run horizontally across the top of a results page so that listings start above the page fold. In addition, listings are more concise, with improvements in look and location of links. There is one main link for a detailed map for all the results under a search. Please check out these improvements, which will be live after August 3. Stay tuned for more RoomSaver.com activity. Always visit our website to keep abreast of your listings! Let us know if we can make any changes for you. Q&A How can I move my hotel higher in the listing? Listings on RoomSaver.com follow an order based on both package type and hotel rate. Featured Listings come first, followed by Featured Nearby, Premium Listings, Premium Nearby, and finally Basic. Within packages, the list goes by rate in descending order of highest rate first, then going down. The rate, appearing in red, is at the upper right hand corner of the listing. If a listing does not include a specific rate, and instead contains a phrase, such as ?Click Reserve Now for Rate? it will fall after those that specify price. Listings with phrases generally show in alphabetical order. To move your hotel?s listing higher, you should first consider an upgrade in package, if you haven?t already. Second, it?s important to list a rate, keeping in mind that higher rates appear first. To discuss package options, please contact sales at sales@roomsaver.com or by calling 800-766-6728, option 2. Most Hotel Reservations Are Decided and Made by? (Fill in the Blank) By Emmanuel Gardinier Who are your most important guests?.
That?s right! Apart for male specific destinations (like a buddies golf trip) or business-oriented hotels (and with the growing number of women traveling on business this is also changing), most of your reservations are decided and made by women. From female executives, to secretaries booking for their bosses, and the wife booking the vacations for the family or the weekend getaway, it?s usually the women who decide where we stay. So you better start paying attention. Orient your marketing effort to the fairer sex; make your property more appealing to them. RoomSaver.com demographics taken from comScore Media Metrix Ratings show that over half (56.2%) of our visitors are women between the ages of 35 and 44. Our detailed listings, in conjunction with our online Brochures and Trip Clips, highlight your property in the best light. My husband and I travel to the States from Australia yearly and it?s a great way for us to make our money go a bit further?? ? G. Gallagher Workers stretching business trips Friday, 22nd July 2005 Source: Deloitte & Touche USA LLP Business travelers frequently extend their trips by tacking on a bit of vacation, according to a recent travel, hospitality and leisure survey commissioned by Deloitte & Touche USA LLP. More than half (55 percent) of all business travelers reported taking at least one combined business/pleasure trip last year, and 70 percent brought a family member or friend with them on these trips. Further, 54 percent extended the trip by staying at least one extra night at the same lodging facility. Survey respondents said they pay more for lodging when they travel for business than when they travel for pleasure. This was true even among those in the upper income groups. At the same time, 23 percent of all business travelers said their company?s travel guidelines have become more restrictive over the past year. Among business-only travelers, 35 percent typically spent $126 or more for a room, compared to only 25 percent of vacationers. RoomSaver.com gives hoteliers a great opportunity to highlight amenities that attract both business and leisure travelers. Featured Premium listings can have up to ten amenities showcased, while Premium can have a maximum of six. A listing?s Brochure button allows for even more detailed description of your property. Business travelers want to know if your hotel has easy-to-use electronics, an onsite restaurant, high-speed Internet connection, or transportation to the nearest airport.
